Apple pie the easy way

Apple pie

Here are the ingredients you'll need:

- 6 cups of thinly sliced apples (use a mixture of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness)

- 3/4 cup of granulated sugar

- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

- 1/4 teaspoon of salt

- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

- 1 package of pre-made pie crust (for convenience)

For the crust, you can either make your own or use a pre-made one. If you have the time and desire to make your own crust, let me know, and I'll provide you with a simple and delicious recipe!

Now, let's get cooking!

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Toss everything together until the apples are well coated.

3. Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it into a 9-inch pie dish, making sure to press it against the sides. Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges.

4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, making sure it's evenly distributed. Dot the top of the apples with the small pieces of butter.

5. Roll out the second pie crust and carefully place it over the apple filling. You can leave it as a full crust or create a lattice pattern if you're feeling fancy. Just remember to seal the edges of the crust together.

6. Optional: Brush the top of the pie crust with some milk or beaten egg to give it a lovely golden color when baked.

7. Place the pie on a baking sheet (in case of any spillage) and bake it in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.

8. Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will help the filling set and make it easier to slice.

Beginner Tips:

- If you're worried about the crust burning, you can cover the edges with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

- Feel free to sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon on top of the pie before baking for an extra touch of sweetness and aroma.
