Ultimate Margherita Pizza

Margherita Pizza



Ingredients:


- Pizza dough - Tomato sauce - Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or torn - Fresh basil leaves - Extra virgin olive oil - Sea salt flakes - Black pepper

 

Instructions:

1. Prepare the dough: Let pizza dough rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size. 

 2. Preheat oven to 450°F with pizza stone or baking sheet inside.

 3. On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll out dough to a12-inch round, about 1/4 inch thick. 

 4. Transfer dough to a woode pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread 2-3 Tbsp of tomato sauce evenly over dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border.


 5. Top sauce with fresh mozzarella slices or tear into pieces and artfully arrange over surface. 

 6. Scatter fresh basil leaves evenly. Drizzle with olive oil. 

 7. Slide pizza directly onto hot baking surface. Bake 10-12 minutes until crust is crisp and cheese is melted. 

 8. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes and grind black pepper over surface. 

 9. Slice into wedges and serve warm, enjoying traditional Margherita pizza in all its simple, fresh glory!
